My 6 year old daughter likes LEGOs. She visited Legoland Orlando in 2019 right before the Covid hit. And guess what? She was so excited to know about coming back to Legoland. This time, we picked Legoland California and decided to stay a night at one of their hotels. Also, our family was getting bigger since 2020, we had an additional 14 month old girl join our vacation trip. Even though Legoland California says that its target audiences are 2-12, my little baby had a blast there for 2 days.

  1. Legoland California hotel

We bought the package to stay 1 night at Legoland hotel with 2-Day Hopper Ticket, giving entry to LEGOLAND theme park and SEA LIFE® aquarium. There are 2 hotels, Legoland Resort Hotel and Legoland Castle Hotel. We chose The Legoland Resort Hotel because it was $50 cheaper and its design was more kid friendly. The hotel has 3 room types

  • Regular room: with limited lego design

  • Full theme room: with more lego design

  • Friend and Ninjago theme: full theme design of Friend and Ninjago and fully booked really soon

Each room has 2 separate areas, one for adult and one for kids. The kid area has its own bunkbed, TV and of course Lego box. It was fun to explore the hidden Lego characters in the room.

The lobby has places to play and explore. The halls and restaurants are

decorated with the Lego theme. We were given a scavenger hunt to open the secret box inside the room. Looking for the answers was fun and easy. We got 2 small Lego pieces for the kids as the reward.

The complimentary breakfast buffet was fabulous. There were a variety of options of breads, hot food, fresh fruit, and juice. All the buffet stations are short which kids can have food themselves. Because of the Covid, there were no Legoland characters visiting meal times.

One of my favorite little elements was the dance party in the elevator. After everyone got into the elevator, everything changed once the doors closed. A disco ball started spinning and music started playing. Time for a dance party.

The pool was small and clean. It was chilly in November so we did not stay long at the pool. There was a shallow section for little kids and a 5 foot section for adults. All kids were required to wear a life jacket which was also available at the pool. The water was heated, the kids were warm since they were busy running and playing. However, for me, I was cold :).

  1. Rides and attractions

My 6 year old girl was about 45 inches at that time so she could ride everything. The thrill-driven rides she loved include Ninjago, Technic Coaster, Bionicle Blaster, the Coastersaurus, the 4-D flying and the Dragon. The Dragon was close on our days. However, we did ride it during our Legoland trip in Orlando.

Other rides were likely for little kids. Even though they looked simple, my little one had too much fun riding them.

Test Track Ride

Since we had 2 days spent, there was no rush for us. The line was not bad. The longest time was for Coastersaurus which was about 45 minutes because the Dragon was close and this ride was similar to it. To avoid the wait times, there was an optional purchase “Reserve ‘N’ Ride”, the cost was from $35 to $100 depending on how much you want to reduce your wait

  1. Sea Life Aquarium

The aquarium was really small. It only took us about 15 minutes to explore. In my opinion, it is not worth spending extra money on it. Normally, the Legoland package includes a theme park and water park. However, they closed the water park in November and replaced it with the sea life aquarium.

  1. Shopping

We always buy the exclusive lego boxes while visiting legoland. They don’t sell them at the local lego store, neither online. Last time, we bought the Dragon roller coaster and this time, we bought the Ninjago.

  1. Food

Ninja kitchen in NInja World: street food style and i suggest you should try the vietnamese banh mi.

Everything is Ramen in LEGO MOvie World: Asian food such as ramen, rice bowl…

Ocean Journey Cafe in the Sea Life Aquarium: this restaurant only opened during lunch hour and closed early. We did not have a chance to eat here.

Knights’ Smokehouse BBQ on Castle HIll: we came from Texas so no BBQ could beat our state.

Pizza Mania: our kids did not like the pizza here. She complained that it was so dry

Granny’s Apple fries on Castle Hill: it was a good energy booster for the family after a lot of walking. I ordered one with ice cream and the kids loved it.

Legoland is a beautiful park and is great for our kids. Compared to Disney parks, Legoland seems less crowded and the lines are much shorter. There is the newest Legoland just opened near NewYork city. We would love to come visit one day and for sure, I will write a detailed review about it.
